Payroll and Benefits Administrator

The Payroll and Benefits Administrator is responsible for managing the complete payroll cycle and administering the employee benefits programs. This includes processing payroll, handling benefit enrollments for eligible new hires and ensuring all related compliance requirements are met. This is an on-site position as it requires regular interaction with employees and various internal departments.
What will you be doing?
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing in ADP including new hires, terminations, and data updates
- Transmit, review, and distribute payroll accurately and on time
- Process manual and off-cycle payments as required
- Administer and maintain employee attendance system
- Prepare monthly journal entries, exception reports, and implement changes
- Handle payroll-related billing and deductions including safety shoes
- Maintain accurate personnel records and prepare ROEs, vacation pay, and T4s
- Review and approve vacation requests and update employee deductions for benefits
- Reconcile payroll deductions with life insurance and LTD billing
- Administer group benefits program and conduct new employee orientations
- Manage monthly billing and payments for Sun Life and RBC plans
- Coordinate distribution of benefits and RRSP packages post-probation
- Process waivers of premium and report earnings and contributions to head office
- Maintain overtime records and ensure government remittances are completed timely
- Prepare and submit reports for Statistics Canada and government hiring initiatives
- Complete annual reconciliations for WSIB and Employer Health Tax
- Address inquiries from Service Canada, CRA, WSIB, and other external agencies
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Must Haves:
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation
- 5+ years in experience in payroll and benefits administration for 500+ employees
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels in a multicultural environment
- Proficiency in Windows-based applications (i.e. MS Excel and MS Word)
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and confidentiality
- Strong command of the English language (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Comfortable working on-site 5-days a week
Nice-to Haves:
- Proficient with ADP
- Experience working in manufacturing environments
