We are seeking an experienced Audit Manager with a solid foundation in Tax to join our client’s team in Richmond Hill. The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of experience in a Canadian CPA firm and a strong background in managing audit and tax services. This in-office position offers an excellent opportunity to lead engagements, manage client relationships, and mentor junior staff.
What will you be doing?
- Leading and managing audit and review engagements for for-profit and not-for-profit clients while ensuring accuracy and compliance with professional standards
- Supervising and completing tax-related tasks, including preparation and review of personal and corporate tax returns, GST/HST filings, and related documents
- Managing compilation engagements and overseeing the preparation of financial statements and tax filings
- Preparing payroll-related documents, including T4 and T5 filings, and ensuring compliance with government remittances
- Acting as the primary liaison with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on tax-related matters
- Leading client meetings and maintaining strong relationships to ensure high-quality service delivery
- Reviewing and analyzing work papers, financial statements, and tax returns to ensure compliance with Canadian standards
- Mentoring and guiding junior staff by providing training, feedback, and development opportunities
- Utilizing accounting software such as Caseware, Caseview, TaxPrep, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office to efficiently manage tasks
- Identifying and recommending process improvements in audit and tax functions
- Overseeing project timelines and budgets to ensure successful and timely engagement completion
- Staying updated on industry trends, tax regulations, and best practices
Must-haves
- 7+ years of experience in a Canadian public accounting firm, specializing in audit and tax services
- Proficiency in managing and completing audit and review engagements for both for-profit and not-for-profit clients
- Strong knowledge of Canadian tax and accounting regulations, including CRA compliance
- Expertise in preparing personal and corporate tax returns, GST/HST filings, and payroll remittances
- Proficiency in accounting and tax software, including Caseware, Caseview, TaxPrep, TaxCycle, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office
- CPA designation (or progress towards certification)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
