We are looking for a Cost Accountant to manage cost-related financial transactions and ensure accuracy in financial records. This role involves analyzing cost data, monitoring inventory, and supporting the accounting team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Cost Accountant will help maintain financial integrity and contribute to cost control initiatives.

What will you be doing?

• Recording and analyzing cost-related financial entries in QuickBooks
• Monitoring and reporting on inventory levels and cost of goods sold (COGS)
• Preparing cost analysis reports and inventory control statements
• Reconciliating cost accounts and bank transactions
• Mentoring the accounting team and supporting monthly financial reports
• Managing the general ledger and producing cost-related financial statements
• Handling GST/HST, WSIB, and EHT reporting
• Supporting special projects and maintaining an organized filing system

Must-haves

• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and GAAP
• Experience in cost analysis and reporting
• Advanced skills in MS Excel, including pivot tables
• Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in financial reporting
• Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, including cost accounting
• BSc or BComm degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with inventory management systems and QuickBooks Online
• CPA designation or progress toward certification
• Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end processes
• Previous experience supporting ERP implementation
