Since starting Power Staffing Solutions, an Ontario-based firm focused on healthcare and IT, Saye Sathiyakumar has understood what makes the company stand out from a large pool of competitors. “We genuinely care about what we do. It’s that simple,” he says. “If you care about what you do and are trying to solve problems, you’ll go much further.” This ethos has driven the company’s rapid growth, earning it a spot as the second fastest-growing company in Canada on the prestigious Globe and Mail list in 2022.

A go-getter by nature, Sathiyakumar is motivated by the dynamic nature of the staffing industry. “We’re in an industry where our product is people, and people are always evolving. Every day, there’s something new happening, and we need to adapt to that quickly.”

Sathiyakumar is also driven by his own experience. “I come from very humble beginnings,” he shares, referring to his roots in a low-income immigrant community in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. “In this industry, you can help people and change lives while also providing for your family. It has personally changed my family’s life. But you have to be passionate about it.”

This passion extends beyond the work, actively supporting his community, donating to underfunded schools and initiating scholarships. Recognizing the overlooked issue of mental health within his South Asian community, he established a scholarship in honor of a late friend. “We do a lot of community initiatives,” he says. “Our office is based in Scarborough, a traditionally low-income area, and we’ve now become the largest employer here. It’s a proud feeling.”
